The family of Darius before Alexander_Gaspare Diziani

This morning while I was waiting for my pickup truck “Maryjane” to get her oil changed and transmission serviced, I was watching bits and pieces of the morning network news. I would normally shy away from that kind of abhorrent behavior but I thought this might be kind of amusing to watch and see what kind of so-called news that is being spoon fed to the masses nowadays. I listened to the comments of the hostesses that I could not identify about some of the Sunday morning talk shows where many democrats were asked “what do you think of the President’s plan for troop levels in Iraq?” The common answer from most of them was "they want to redeploy the troops to somewhere else". This is the talking point phrase that was sent out to the democrats that would be doing the Sunday morning news show circus er, I mean circuit. We are in the middle of a war with terrorists that want to control one of the largest oil fields in the world and the democrats want to pick up our chips and go somewhere else? Just what somewhere else do they mean? Their very vague answer is quite alarming considering the huge consequences of such an action.

I thought to myself “self, just what is the plan the democrats have for victory in Iraq?” I have listened to the many democrats while they were pushing each other out of the way to get in front of the camera and I still couldn’t tell what their plan was. In order to answer this very difficult question I did what the enquiring person would do these days, “Google it”. That’s just what I did when I got home. I Googled, “democrat plan for victory in Iraq”. The first entry was some Yahoo discussion group with the same old tit for tat arguing that goes on in the endless amounts of blogs nowadays. The second result along with the rest of the results of my search was very telling though. It took me until the fourth page that one democrat; Senator Joe Biden of Delaware took kind of a position while being interviewed by MSNBC’s Chris Matthews about 10 months ago. Vague Plan Biden said we should divide up Iraq into some kind of Confederation and someone is going to have to figure how to do it. What kind of vagueness is that? It is the only plan that I could find that even comes close to being described as a plan, sort of. The democrat plan for victory is to withdraw troops from Iraq and station them on some nonexistent and imaginary base because the democrats believe that troop withdraw really would be a victory for them. The democrat constituency considers President Bush more of an enemy to their ideal of America than the Muslim terrorists that would kill or enslave every American if they could. This would be a big feather in the cap of the democrats with the extremist left wing. The extremist left believes that America and our troops are the problem not the Muslim terrorists.

Let’s take this to the next level though and we’ll assume the democrats have their way and we take our troops out of Iraq and put them on well, lets’ see, the Philippines, darn we can’t do that, there are no bases we can use on the Philippines anymore. How about we bring them all home to American soil and when they step off the plane in San Francisco liberals can spit on them and call them baby killers. That wasn’t very nice but our troops are tough and they managed to get a ride out of there. Hmmm, let’s try and get the college education they earned while serving their country. Ooops again, liberal war protestor professors give the veteran Soldiers and Sailors failing marks, berate and belittle them in front of the class for being part of the evil American war machine. That doesn’t work well either. Our people are tough though, they are trained to overcome many difficult obstacles but I’m sure they weren’t prepared for the welcome they get when they come home.

Let’s take a look to see what happened in Iraq since the democrats had their way and we withdrew our forces in the face of the enemy. Well, the terrorist organization Al Qaeda has opened their first official headquarters in the former Al Rashid Hotel. Prayers in the former lobby are always begun and ended with “Death to America”. To date, over 3 million have be killed and most of them women and children because they have violated Shari’a laws. One clear violation is for women not being accompanied by a male family member when going out into public. That is considered serious enough for on the spot execution.

The Kurds to the north have been putting up a very good fight though and have kept their borders intact but it is the constant attacks and fear of chemical weapons being used again that strikes fear into their hearts especially on foggy days. Oil prices in the European Union have climbed to 200 euros a barrel. Gasoline is used only for military vehicles. Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez and his socialist government owned Oil Company raised prices on crude again today and oil is now about 300 dollars a barrel in the United States.

Yes, the war in Iraq was partially about economic stability and wars from the beginning of time have been over economics but people living free from tyranny are also part of the quotient. The democrats only have political expediency in mind and we know that because of their glaring lack of a coherent alternative plan.

Art thou pale for Weariness

Art thou pale for weariness
Of climbing heaven and gazing on the earth,
Wandering companionless
Among the stars that have a different birth,
And ever changing, like a joyless eye
That finds no object worth its constancy?

I have repaired the link in the post about the democrat vague plan. I also want to note the interviewer of Joe Biden in this article is a partisan democrat commentator who recently commented about Dick Cheney on the radio talk show "Imus in the Morning" that "Dick Cheney was for increaing troop levels because he always wants to kill" when deployment levels in Iraq where being questioned by the always obnoxious and acerbic host Don Imus.

I also changed the verse because my post had become a bit too wordy already. If you liked the former verse I can send you information about it if care to read about it's very interesting story.

I enjoy reading your unabashed commentary and the unique way you close with poetry. I have former students over there. Here's one of them singing with his buddy Marines at:

I agree that a plan for victory is essential--I believe that more than ever.

Many people do not understand how complicated the world is today and how dangerous. For instance, it scares me that Chavez will team up with the Iran and North Korean leaders to work against us.

Oil is vital to us economically. I wish we were not so dependent on it. Is it so hard to imagine though that economic hard times translates into real human suffering and death?

And, no, the Democrats do not have a reliable, workable plan for Iraq. They are stumped.

PI, I watched that video and I know what those young men are feeling. They want to win they do not want to have the rug pulled out from under them like the democrats did to our Soldiers and Sailors when they cut off funding in Vietnam. They do not want to be left hanging out to dry and be pulled out before the mission is accomplished. A popular saying of the time at the end of the Vietnam war by American GI's was "We the unwilling, lead by the unknowing, do the impossible for the ungrateful"

I helped clean up that mess after Vietnam. It was hard to recover from such feelings but I helped put our military back together and I swore I would mount a never ending battle to keept our forces from having the rug pulled out from them again.

To fight to have our forces use their abilities to defeat the enemies of our country without having their hands tied with complicated rules of engagement has been an uphill one too. I ask how can you mount an attack, take and hold a position when you can't secure your operation zone because of politically correct rules of engagement.

I love my Marines and Navy comrades and I will do and have been doing everything to make sure they know there are people that love them and back them with actions and deeds and not some meaningless platitudes mouthing support while hating the Country that sent them there.

I say to those Soldiers and Sailors that are sacrificing their time, their blood, their youth to make us a safer, stronger nation. Semper Fi carry on! I got your back still! That goes for you too you Dogface SOBs!

Can you imagine what things would be like if we pulled out and left things to the not ready for prime time Iraqi army?

Al Zwahiri with Al Qaeda will move right in and with out so much of a blink of an eye. Those guys will be the new ruling party. That would give Al Qaeda and Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad control of a major percentage of the world's oil for them to commit havoc with their 14th century ideals.

The civilized world would change overnight. Have the democrats and the peacnicks even considered what they will do if they can't get their chilled wine and expensive imported cheeses if that supply of oil gets turned off?

It's better to get the job done now. Knock out as many terroists as possible, build up the Iraqi army but we're always going to need forces in the area until we can start drilling and refining our own oil supplies which is a considerable amount.

We can't simply return to the horse and buggy days as people like algore suggest.

The more I read the news...

the more I get pissed off.

Dozens of Democrats wanted a surge...but when Bush changed his mind...the Democrats also changed theirs....just pisses me off.

B-Hip, Democrats and their willing accomplices in the press are just using their familiar template of hiding the contradictory statements of the demadumbs from the masses. It's nothing new and it will continue, you can bet your obama dollar on that.

Ecellent post JG.

You know what get's me, we have continually had at one time or another 150,000 troops in Iraq and we bring home or re-deploy 20,000 of these troops. Keeping the level somewhere around 130,000.

I dont know when or how all this got lost but adding an additional 21,500 troops would just bring the level back to what we usually have there in any given month.

So exactly what are the Democrats whining about? This really isnt a surge or an escalation, it's pretty much going back to what we had there to begin with !@#$%$#@!

Those whacked out Liberals.

Marie, Most of those that are complaining about this so called surge are victims of the public education system and cyphering(Jethro Bodine speak) wasn't high on the list for requirements. I watched Solidad O'Brian interview Senator Chuck Hagelthis morning and her questions to him were some of the most atrociously pointed questions I've listened to in sometime. It's like her brains had been sucked out of her head and replaced with demadumb talking point email.

Sheesh, I worry that the only hope for this country are the generation of young Americans that are fighting over in Iraq. The so called liberal educated ones have only demadumb indotrination to rely on and that will put an end to this republic as sure as if the Soviets had initiated a doomsday launch!

I am confused about Bush's request for 20,000 + more troops in Iraq. I am confused because the number of troops in Iraq has fluctuated up and down by sometimes 20,000 over the course of the war. The most we ever had in Iraq was around 160,000 troops. I don't know what the count is today.

My question: Is Bush asking for 20,000 + troops above the 160,000 we had over there at one time?

J_G said...

Ther are approximately 140,000 troops serving in the Iraq THO Susie. Not all of those troops are combat front line units. It is my understanding that President Bush wants 20,000 troops that will dedicated to combat front line units used to support Iraqi army units to quell the violence in Baghdad and clamp down on Shia militias. There is the already ongoing fighting with Sunni and Al Qaeda insurgents in Anbar and President Bush wants 2000 more troops ther to assist in the fighting. The troops that are being sent are shooters and that's what is needed.

Hi J_G,

J_G, I have asked myself the same question over and over again and keep thinking of that phrase that John F Kerry said in regards to Russia when President Ronald Reagan wanted Russia to take down that wall. John F. Kerry said why are we so anti Russia I mean Communism is just another form of Government. When Liberals can't see what was wrong with Communism and people voted these people in, what I ask myself now is what is wrong with many of my own citizens that would do that.
