US Marines insulted by San Francisco

World War II recruiting poster

The Few, the Proud, the Marines were insulted by the City of San Francisco earlier this week when they were denied a permit to shoot a recruiting commercial in the city. The US Marine Silent Drill Team applied for a permit to use California Street in San Francisco but Film Commission Executive Director Stefanie Coyote would only approve the permit if no Marines were in the picture. The City of San Francisco is now backpeddling and offering to let the Marines film in another location citing traffic concerns for the original site.

Captain Greg Corrales of the SFPD Traffic Bureau commands the police traffic bureau that works with crews shooting commercials, TV shows and movies in the city. He's also a Marine veteran and his son is serving his third tour of duty in Iraq. Captain Corrales said "this is not about traffic, Ms. Coyote's politics blinded her to her duty as the director of the Film Commission and as a responsible citizen,"

OK, those are the facts ma’am. When it comes to the City of San Francisco, when are decent Americans going to stand up and say enough is enough with this shameful and disgraceful behavior? All this disrespect is coming from a city that owes its very existence to the US Navy and US Marines. I am really sick and tired of liberals that have some kind of disagreement with the present administration treating the honorable, decent and self sacrificing young men and women with utter contempt and disrespect. How arrogant, how ungrateful these people are. It is time for the military and veterans communities to take it upon ourselves to punish and diminish the political power these people have accumulated for their disrespect. There are many big name businesses that are home based or have large interests in the City of San Francisco.

It was only two or three years ago the city denied the USS Iowa, a highly decorated World War II battleship a berth in the city for it to become a museum and a memorial for World War II veterans because they said it would send out the wrong message. What wrong message could it possibly send out? Could it be they do not approve of decent people willing to sacrifice their lives so liberal morons can exercise their freedom of speech to insult those that preserve that very right. Only people that follow the creed of liberalism could come up with such convoluted thinking. The politicians that rule the City of San Francisco are beneath contempt.

It is said that patriotism is the love of country. I think it is the love of the things about your country that you don’t want to see lost—that you want to see perpetuated—and you’re willing to sacrifice to ensure it.

Patriotism is not something you put on each morning like a clean shirt. Patriotism is not something you can buy at the super market. Patriotism is not something you can get in return for a monthly paycheck to a man in uniform. It is devotion to an ideal—a principle; a burning desire that the things that people think are best for their country and its people are protected from erosion—protected from any and everything which would tend to lessen in the mind of the individual the image he has of how things should be in his ideal country.

Patriotism is an abstract thing. You can’t see it, you can’t feel it, you can’t hear it—albeit at times you can see the action and hear the things that people do, who are imbued with patriotism.

In the armed forces we have one fundamental mission—to provide for the security of this nation. Everything else is included in this goal. Devotion to country—patriotism, if you will—is essential to our success.

The men and women in the armed forces are not so different from other Americans. The uniforms they wear merely signify what their job is and in which service they carry out their important duties. But soldier, sailor, airman or Marine, they are bound by a common promise and a common responsibility.

Patriotism is something from our hearts—a faith—a dedication.

We cannot confine patriotism to a single day, year, or to whenever it is convenient, any more than we can confine a belief in God to the occasion when one is trapped in a foxhole under fire, or a Sunday morning in church. If patriotism is faith—and I believe it is—then it is a faith based on love, the love of the things that we believe are best for the people of our country, and thus for the nation itself. It is a deep faith in what we are for, not a hatred for things we are against. American patriots need not hate nor fear anyone. Fear and hate are corrosive and carry the seeds for the destruction of the deep patriotism so necessary to ensure the future of America.

I am firmly convinced that the cornerstone of our Democracy are Americans who have pride in their country—true patriots.

We are not born with this sense of patriotism. This thing called patriotism is not just handed to us. We must know our history, we must participate in our country’s current affairs of concern—vote for leaders—foster education for more of our people—and stand beside our country as her defenders.

Let us all do these things, and there will be no lack of patriots in this great country.

Free Speech or Free Advertising?

Next Stop! Columbia University! This bus will continue on it's irratic and irrational course

This morning the President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be giving a speech to the students and alumni at Columbia University in New York. This is to me, a slap in the face of Americans everywhere. This man that is the President of Iran presides over a terrorist sponsoring state and hosts parades through the streets of his capitol city Tehran chanting the standard “death to America, death to America”. Now President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has come to America to give a speech to the United Nations General Assembly. The United States is bound by treaty to let the Iranian President make his speech at that unremarkable body of bureaucrats.

President Ahmadinejad also wanted to visit the site where the World trade Towers once stood and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who has never been noted for much common sense or backbone said he would provide a Police escort for President Ahmadinejad to go to that site. A firestorm of criticism erupted over that poorly thought out idea and the mayor cancelled his offer to President Ahmadinejad and refused to give him permission to visit the site. That a boy, Mayor Bloomberg, that’s the true tradition of the wishy-washy, say anything to get elected politician we’ve all come to despise.

My take on all of this is; President Ahmadinejad has the right by treaty to come to the United States to address the United Nations General Assembly there is nothing short of creating an international incident that can stop him from attending this function.

It is my opinion and the opinion of many others that do exhibit some common sense that it is a very dim-witted idea to let President Ahmadinejad give a speech at Columbia University. We already know that the Iranian President believes the United States is the “Great Satan’ and thinks we are evil defilers of Islam. We already know that the Iranian President wishes “Death to American” and has made it a slogan for Iranian license plates and dinnerware. Inviting Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to speak before Columbia University is a blatant disregard of American sensibilities and decency. It is also a hefty contribution by providing free advertising for the radical Islamist terrorism that Ahmadinejad espouses.

Free speech is a right that is guaranteed to the citizens of the United States of America by US Constitution. Those freedoms do not extend to tyrants from other nations that wish to destroy us and our freedoms. Even the New York Times didn’t give the American citizen traitors and tyrants at Move on dot org free advertising in their “We hate General Petraeus” ad they ran just days ago.

And his dark secret love
Does thy life destroy.

Speaking of Protests...

The Wounded Man_Gustav Courbet

Let me see if I understand what was going on in Jena Louisiana yesterday. There apparently was a large group of outside protesters that came to Jena Louisiana to demonstrate their displeasure with the results of a trial held for a young man. The young man that was at the center of this protest was accompanied by five other young men but only the one young man was charged with a crime. The crime that was involved was the beating of another young man. This young man was beaten by the first young man so severely it left him unconscious and the group of young men that accompanied the young man that did the beating left the beaten young man for dead.

So the protesters showed up in Jena to protest that the young man that did the beating and his accomplices did not get a sentence that matched the seriousness of the crime he committed. I agree; there is no case that a young man going about his everyday business should have to become the victim of a crime and be beaten until unconscious merely for being a different race from those doing the beating. I thought the Congress had passed legislation that made using race as a basis for committing crimes especially heinous and extra charges and penalties are supposed to be added on in these types of circumstances.

The World Turned Upside Down

If buttercups buzz'd after the bee,
If boats were on land, churches on sea,
If ponies rode men and if grass ate the cows,
And cats should be chased into holes by the mouse,
If the mamas sold their babies
To the gypsies for half a crown;
If summer were spring and the other way round,
Then all the world would be upside down.

What is it Going to Take?

Do these people deserve to have the memorial to their service and the service of those that gave their lives vandalized?

Today as I was doing some follow up about the vandalism that was done to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial I ran across even more vandalism. I went to the official site of “The Wall” and found that site has been hacked by a Turkish Nationalist going by the name “Thorax”. If you go to “The Wall” page and click on “Today’s Wall Birthdays” or “Today’s Wall Casualties” the pages will display the defaced pages. I’m wondering what it’s going to take to wake people up that we are under attack from every corner of the world because they now have internet access that we have provided for them.

I did not find any further information about the vandalism that occurred last week and for those of you that don’t know what I’m talking about, this is the most recent information on that situation. Vietnam Veterans Memorial vandalized.

This war with radical Islam did not start with George Bush and it’s not going to end when George Bush leaves office either. It’s not going to end if we put our tails between our legs and surrender in Iraq and Afghanistan. The only way that we maintain our freedom and the American way of life is to fight these people and fight them so hard that they give up. What is it going to take to wake people up?

Do these nitwits represent the way you think?

Gathering of Eagles II

Eagles begin to gather under early morning sky in Washington D.C.

US Navy Seal Mom (on stage in pink to left)

American Flags flyin' high and proud!

Eagles gearing up

On Saturday September 15, 2007 in Washington D.C. the Gathering of Eagles got together again to bring a counter demonstration to the anti-war protestors. The numbers I have seen varied widely for both groups in the mainstream media but I and a few others that were there agreed that the Gathering of Eagles was about 2000 and the anti-war protestors about 5000 -7000. The Gathering of Eagles was made up mainly of veterans, their families and the supporters of the troops. Most of the Gathering of Eagles participants have traveled from across the country to be in Washington D.C. to counter the anti war protests. The anti war protestors were made up of mainly college age adults from the Washington D.C. area, some disgruntled Iraq war veterans and they also utilized a fair amount of some young school aged children. Of course what would a protest be without some leftover gray and aged anti-Vietnam war era protestors that completely hate America? They came to spew what little venom they have left and to pass onto a new generation the hate they have for anything that makes America look like the great nation that it is.

The Gathering of Eagles held their morning rally on the National Mall between the Capitol and the Washington Monument just east of the Smithsonian Institute. It was a somewhat breezy morning and the abundance of American and American military flags snapped briskly in the stiff morning breeze. After getting things organized on the stage there was a host of speakers making speeches to rally the troops for the afternoon melee. Later we would man the barricades to show the anti-war protesters they do not control the streets or the debate despite all the attention they are provided by the mainstream media. Some of the speakers at the Gathering of Eagles rally included Congressman Duncan Hunter, Iraqi war veteran Mom Deborah Johns, Melanie Morgan of Moving America Forward and the mother of a Navy Seal that gave his life trying to save a fellow Navy Seal. The story she told of her brave son was very compelling and I was awestruck by her strength of character.

After the rally it was down to Pennsylvania Ave to man the barricades to confront the protesters. We had to wait for quite some time for the organizers to get their motley bunch of miscreants moving down Pennsylvania Ave but they finally came with their yellow and orange signs with all types of messages on them. I stopped a few protesters to argue with them to take off their masks covering their faces so I can take pictures and post them on them on the internet. After all I was willing to stand there and be photographed by all types of cameras and videos that appeared to be designed to be some type of intimidation to us. I knew then that they have very little conviction to their cause. Sure there is a hard core in there somewhere but when confronted directly face to face they quickly fall apart for the reasons why they are there. The Eagles that stood along the barricades are dedicated to their cause and it is quite apparent when push comes to shove as it did in a few places along the route.

The clownish parade ended up at the Capitol building with their planned finale of what they called a ‘die in”. I’ll let others tell you about that part of that pitiful parade of shame. I never made it to the steps of Capitol to see that act, I had other fish to fry.

I have no pictures of the events at the circle of Pennsylvania Ave. and 1st Street out in front of the Capitol that I’m about to describe because my hands were full holding onto the American flag I had brought with me. I handed out plenty of my business cards with my blog address on it so if anyone has any pictures let me know.

After an already long day I was about to start my journey home. The parade had already gone by, I confronted many protesters and I was getting tired. I had to drive home from Washington D.C. which is about three hours from where I live. Then I saw it and I became completely enraged and I was going to do something about this. Right there, in the middle of Capitol of the United States, someone was flying a flag of the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republic; the “Hammer and Sickle”. I headed right over to the place this flag was being flown and confronted the young men and women that had an information table set up.

The young communists where handing out leaflets. One young girl was even wearing a scarf and earrings with the Hammer and Sickle on them. There was a chorus of teenage girls chanting “the cold war was over” at me. I told them angrily “yes, the cold war was over and the Berlin wall is gone and plenty of people gave their lives to tear that wall down”. I informed them I spent 10 years of my life defending the nation from that hated Hammer and Sickle, the symbol of man's worst aggression and enslavement. Then the Cavalry came to back me up. A group of fellow veterans saw me confronting this group of communists with my American flag flying high. I ended up walking away after battering them with all the verbal abuse I could muster and soon they struck their colors and moved on. I walked across Pennsylvania Ave to continue on my journey home and two vets that had been watching this whole thing go on said to me “good job” and asked me where I had served. I told them with great pride as I did all day, to everyone else “I’m US Navy and I came to fight today, not to make peace by surrender”.

Gathering of Eagles

Saturday September 15th the Gathering of Eagles will assemble on the National Mall in Washington DC to show our support for the troops and the mission in Iraq. We need to show our troops that there are tough Americans that support them and do not falter in their support for their country and the men and women that protect it.

Here’s the link to brochure of where the Gathering of Eagles will take place.

May 2002

In May of 2002 I visited the site where the World Trade Towers stood before September 11, 2001. What you see in this picture is the cross made of steel girders. I thought is was a very poignant. The mood at this particular location was very somber and repectful, people were whispering to each other. It was being treated as a memorial site at that time.

Time for "Move On" to be Gone

The Seven Dwarfs on the Move payroll

I think as most decent Americans do that it is time to put an end to the extremist antics of Move On .org. The sleazy George Soros funded organization Move On .org attempted to slander the character of our leading General in Iraq with an ad in the New York Times yesterday. It did not work; anyone with a brain can see this was an underhanded political stunt engineered to attempt to undermine the credibility of this dignified and honorable man, General David H. Petraeus. The General was in Washington yesterday to report to Congress on the progress of the military surge that has been going on Iraq. The General gave the facts as he sees them and did not mince words. In his view the surge has made progress but there is still a ways to go. The surge is working but not as quickly or efficiently as anyone would like. This is the nature of military operations. In order to accomplish your objective militarily you must defeat an enemy that is constantly trying to defeat you. The General gave specifics, read about it here Christian Science Monitor and here for the details on why the general had to make a report to Congress Petraeus Report

The despicable antics of the full page ad in the New York Times have brought shame to the democrat party that gorges itself on political blood money from this treacherous organization. Its time the democrats take this opportunity right now to relinquish all the dirty blood money they have received from this organization and we will try to reconcile our own country. If not there will be a continued state of war with democrats until they separate themselves from these anti American jackals. Please call your elected democrat representatives today and tell them you don’t want them to represent Move On .org, you want them to represent you. Tell your representative to return all of the dirty and traitorous blood money they may have received from the George Soros funded Move On .org. Lets return America to Americans and lets attempt to bring the Democrat party back to being a loyal and honorable party for their sake and the sake of America.

Done With the Fraud

Great White Fleet (the Big Stick) sent on world tour in 1907 by Theodore Roosevelt to demostrate the power and resolve of the United States

Ever since the Republican debates of last week there has been a surge that hasn't worked. This other surge is about perpetrating a fraud on Republican voters. No matter how many times a person can point out that Ron Paul is a fraud there will always be those that continue to go on about it but now, I'm done with it. My stand is this; Ron Paul is a Libertarian and has always been a Libertarian. Paul has tried for years to pass himself off as a conservative Republican. Paul is not a Republican he is a Libertarian. I know that Libertarians have some good points about reducing the size and scope of government and I agree as do most Republicans and conservatives. I have written to the the Republican National Committee and and have stated the above at every blog I visit where this discussion is going on. Ron Paul does not belong on the Republican ticket he must run within his own party and have his own primary. I was once one of those individuals that thought being a Libertarian could change things. That is just not going to happen because as I heard someone remark at one time or another; Libertarians will never get anywhere politically because trying organize Libertarians is akin to herding a bunch of cats.

President Issues Iraq a Warning

In recent days, the President of the United States has become less patient with the way things are going in Iraq. I'm sure most of you would agree and now the President is going to take some very decisive action just read about it here. The President's Resolve

If only he had taken decisive actions, we wouldn't be where we are now. Now consider electing someone that will continue with policies that were a complete miserable failure.

Tough Questions

Matthew Clarkson_Gilbert Stuart

Tonight during the Republican debates on Fox News the candidates had to answer some pretty tough questions from moderators Brit Hume, Chris Wallace and Wendell Goler. Some of the candidates did well and the others well, let’s just say they won’t be sitting at the desk in the Oval office any time soon. I think it’s a very good thing that the candidates answer the most difficult questions the moderators can come up with. The Fox News team did not disappoint in their effort to accomplish that. Brit Hume asked them all what they would do in the situation if we believed Iran had developed a nuclear weapon. Some of the candidates fumbled for words and weren’t able to give a concise answer. John McCain sounded very confident when it came to expressing his answer. Mitt Romney sounded fairly sure of himself and so did Rudy Giuliani. Mike Huckabee sounded very knowledgeable and thoughtful too. I thought that Congressman Duncan Hunter sounded good in the first few debates but the more I watch the more I understand that he is a good congressman and we need good men like him in Congress. Tom Tancredo is a one issue candidate and Ron Paul well; let’s just say that the Republicans are very gracious for letting a man with little or no knowledge of foreign affairs and American history to participate in a Presidential campaign.

It has been my opinion for a very long time that if you want to be in an important office like the President of the United States you have to be able to answer tough questions. I don’t think a single democrat candidate is qualified because none of them have been asked any tough questions yet. The democrats refuse to come on the Fox News debates because they know they will expose themselves to tough questions they cannot possibly answer because they have no depth or knowledge of the real issues that concern the country. If the democrats refuse to answer tough questions from the likes of Brit Hume, an American how can we expect the democrats to be able to stand up to the likes of Iran or North Korea?

The only clear cut winner in the debate I watched this evening was the American people. The Republican candidates except for Ron Paul showed themselves to be up for the job and ready to tackle the tough issues of our times.

Thank you Brit Hume, Chris Wallace and Wendell Goler for a very good job.

Plan Inadequate?

Daniel in the Lions Den_Peter Paul Ruebens

I just got done reading an article about President Bush’s plan to bail out people that are no longer able to keep up payments on their mortgages. Many of the people that the President’s plan covers took mortgages with interest rates that increase substantially after the first two year teaser rate expires. This is the same idea the credit card comapanies came up with a few years ago to get you to transfer your business over to them. They took your balance and gave a very low interest rate for a year and then increased it to above the regular going interest rate and increased penalties for being late on payments. Oh yeah, and let’s not forget the Cable TV company. When you first hook up with them it’s a ridiculous low monthly payment for the first three months and then after you get used to it and change all your email addresses over, wham! They then sock you with the full price with all the taxes and fees on all the other non essential items that go to providing cable service to your home.

Ok, I got you all worked up, breathing hard, and wanting to choke some credit card or cable company representative didn’t I? Well, it shouldn’t make you angry. The companies provided you with all the information about what you were getting into when you signed up didn’t they? Yes they did, they have the paperwork to prove it and so do you unless of course you threw that contract away and never read it. The point I’m making here is this; you are all adults and you are all responsible for your actions. If you sign an agreement or contract you have to live up to that agreement unless of course the other side breaks their agreement with you first and then it becomes a legal issue between you and the other party.

The President now is proposing that we as taxpayers bail out a segment of the population that weren’t responsible and took out loans they knew they’d never be able to pay back when the lower rate expired and the ridiculously higher rate kicks in. Those low rates attracted speculators and they built or bought houses for dirt cheap and figured they would hold onto them long enough for the value to go up and then dump them onto the market before the higher rates kicked in. The problem with that was the housing market slowed down and they weren’t able to sell the houses for the huge profits they imagined and now they're stuck having to pay for the mortgages at the much higher rate. That is unless they can get some taxpayer fool to pay for it. That’s just what they’re trying to pull here and they’ll get away with it because now the democrats are getting into the fray. The democrats are going to say that the mortgage companies that made these loans did so dishonestly and the taxpayers should pick up the tab.

Right now the President is proposing that the taxpayers will have to pick up the tab for 80 or so thousand mortgages but the democrats are already saying the President's plan is inadequate and are going to want to at least triple or quadruple that number of mortgages. The democrats want to be able to say with a straight face "we did something for poor irresponsible people that were taken advantage of by evil lending institutions" when the case actually can be stated; the democrats are going to take advantage of taxpayers and make us pay for people that are irresponsible, again!

Happy Labor Day

The End of the Season_William Merritt Chase

He shouts in the sails of the ships at sea,
He steals the down from the honeybee,
He makes the forest trees rustle and sing,
He twirls my kite till it breaks its string.
Laughing, dancing, sunny wind,
Whistling, howling, rainy wind,
North, South, East and West,
Each is the wind I like the best.
He calls up the fog and hides the hills,
He whirls the wings of the great windmills,
The weathercocks love him and turn to discover
His whereabouts -- but he's gone, the rover!
Laughing, dancing, sunny wind,
Whistling, howling, rainy wind,
North, South, East and West,
Each is the wind I like the best.
The pine trees toss him their cones with glee,
The flowers bend low in courtesy,
Each wave flings up a shower of pearls,
The flag in front of the school unfurls.
Laughing, dancing, sunny wind,
Whistling, howling, rainy wind,
North, South, East and West,
Each is the wind I like the best.

War at Home

We now have a full fledged war declared here in America. Ultra leftwing Hollywood producers and actors have declared war on American troops at home. It’s not bad enough we have to send our military to war to defend our freedoms against a ruthless and savage enemy but now they have to be defended from an enemy here at home

Ultra left wing Hollywood producer Brian De Palma released his new film “Redacted” over the weekend at the Venice Film festival. It is one of at least eight American films on the war in Iraq due for release in the next few months and the first of two movies on the conflict screening in Venice's main competition. De Palma claims it is inspired by a serious crime that was committed by American soldiers in Iraq. It depicts a rape of a 14 year old Iraqi girl and the murder of some of her family members by US Army soldiers.

The soldiers that committed these crimes were caught, stood trial and were punished (News Report). This story is an exception to the conduct of US military personnel fighting in Iraq. It appears that De Palma thinks that if he paints the US military with the broad brush of widespread abuse of the Iraqis that somehow the United States military is just going to throw down it arms and runaway. We're sorry to disappoint you Mr. De Palma it’s just not going to happen that way. We are going to be there until the Iraqis are ready to stand on their own and we will leave Iraq better than we found it, anything less is untenable.

The US military has conducted itself in an honorable manner while fighting a ruthless enemy that cares little about life with mass murders of civilians and police with bombs and beheadings. Why is it that Brian De Palma is siding with the enemy to give the impression that crimes committed by a few individuals are widespread throughout Iraq? It makes no sense that a man, supposedly an American man, would attempt to discredit the very people that provide him with the freedom to make such films. I don’t know what the penalty should be for someone that does such a thing but he has my full attention and now I'm pissed off. I do know there has to be something done, we cannot let this go unanswered.

During previous wars there were people like Tokyo Rose and Axis Sally to broadcast anti American propaganda. Since then there has been Jane Fonda and Walter Cronkite during the war in Vietnam and now Brian De Palma doing the work that our enemies used to do all on their own.

There was a man who lived a life of fire

There was a man who lived a life of fire.
Even upon the fabric of time,
Where purple becomes orange
And orange purple,
This life glowed,
A dire red stain, indelible;
Yet when he was dead,
He saw that he had not lived.
